Pagudpud: Saud Beach

Fourteen-hour drive from Manila, that's what you have to endure if you are planning to take a long road trip up north here in Ilocos Region. But don't worry, because after that skull-breaking and butt-sweating long drive, you'll get to see the prime beach of Luzon. As quiet as the summer wind, as serene as a sleeping baby, the Saud Beach.

One top tourist destination in Ilocos Norte are its beaches, which I'm so proud, by the way. Because with their pristine white sand and truly captivating view, they managed to stay so pure and truly relaxing. Dubbed as the "anti-Boracay of the North", this Saud Beach is just one of the beaches that you could find here in Ilocos Norte.

I had a wonderful time staying there a few months ago, and I must say that after two years since my last visit here, it is just so wonderful to see that nothing much has changed. It's mystifying peacefulness and breathtaking site of the Bangui Windmills were all kept together making it one of my favorite beaches in the country, really.

Aside from the view on the other side of this place, Saud Beach shoreline is filled with coconut trees, which makes this part really picturesque and cinematic. And even though there are a number of hotels and guest houses surrounding this beautiful beach, I've never seen this part that dirty. Well, probably, thanks to the fishermen who lives nearby, they really keep their surrounding clean and pretty as always.

Comparison to Saud Beach is also there since there's the Blue Lagoon on the other side of the region, offering guests that powdery white Sand, just like in Boracay. But I guess, for me, Saud Beach is still the top beach here in Ilocos, one, because its contrasting color sand, though not really powdery, is just perfect for my likeness. Two, the waves here are also great, especially on off-peak season, which gave me the impression that this place is perfect for some surfing lessons. And lastly, the hotels and food establishments nearby are really affordable, which are some of the factors that most of us take into consideration when having a vacation.

Saud Beach is also the home of the famous Saud Beach Resort, but since we're on a budget that time, we stayed in one of the newly opened hotel-like guesthouse there, Sabrina Beach Home, and we really save a lot by choosing this place. :-)

This beach is perfect if you like swimming early in the morning because sun rises on the other end, so there's no too much sun here in the morning. And by that, romantic sunsets is what sets this beach truly lovely compared to the other.

If you'll ask me, Saud Beach reminded more of Panglao Island in Bohol than Boracay, actually, because it was really peaceful there! No bars, no stores and no trash!

Before lunch time, there are stalls nearby that open and sell Ilocos souvenirs. They are very affordable too, so don't forget to grab some as pasalubongs. This will also help the locals, so please, buys some! :-)

Oh, I will never get tired of coming here in Ilocos. Nice people, great food and such a relaxing province to visit! Til next time, Saud Beach!

Happy rammmpa!
